Montrond-les-Bains
Admire a magnificent view of Montrond-les-Bains and the Forez valley from the air during a hot air balloon ride.
As its name suggests, Montrond-les-Bains is a spa. This town is located east of the Forez mountains, in the Loire department (49), in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Until 1937, this commune was formerly called Meylieu-Montrond. It was renamed "Montrond-les-Bains" in 1937, when spas were popularized and appreciated by spa guests and tourists.
Rekindle the flame of adventure. Just like when you were a child and lived every moment to the fullest.
There's nothing like a hot-air balloon flight to get you there. It's a wonderful feeling, to float like a cloud.
It's also a wonderful feeling of freedom, because you're relying on the wind. The balloon follows only the direction of the gentle breeze. The pilot only controls its height. He has to study the day's weather conditions carefully, to anticipate the route the aircraft will take.
First there's the arrival at the rendezvous point and the preparations for the ride. The envelope has to be inflated, then the air heated to make the balloon fly.
After the gentle take-off, the balloon skims the treetops, then gains altitude. You'll find the familiar scents of freshly cut grass and mountain fir trees, but stronger here.
The air in the sky expands in all three dimensions.
You better understand the spatiality of the world. On the ground, your gaze is too low, there's no room for verticality.
In this light wind, you want to set off on a journey, to go even further than those round mountains you see on the horizon.
You want to set off to discover unknown lands. The great adventure of ballooning can begin.
Over there, two crows fly abreast. They're on their way to a destination known only to them. Perhaps they'll drink the fresh, pure water flowing down the side of the rock.
That healing water at Montrond-les-Bains.
The fortified castle of Montrond-les-Bains served as a lookout post in the Middle Ages. Situated on a rocky outcrop, it dominates the valley and provides an unobstructed view of the surrounding countryside.
Imagine, then, that in a hot-air balloon, you'll gently ascend much higher. From there, you'll be able to see the whole country, 360 degrees. Only the fog will limit your new horizon.
In this Forez valley and mountains, freedom is in the hearts of the people.
Nature leaves you with an impression of immensity. You can feel it when you see these breathtaking landscapes. The dark fir trees of the Forez mountains, or those of the Lyonnais on the other side, contrast with the soft, light green of the meadows in the valleys.
These fragrant herbs, which give the milk its special character, to make fourme and other regional cheeses.
Did you know that in France, a specific law passed in 1907 only authorizes gambling in casinos in seaside, spa and climatic resorts?
That's why these establishments are always found in spa towns.
